In English 110, taught by Dr. Cripps at the University of New England, there are many different learning outcomes that students are expected to meet by the conclusion of the semester. One such outcome, the sixth one in particular, has to deal with local issues in the paper. By the end of the semester, according to the outcome, one must be able to, “Control sentence-level error”. Sentence-level errors include: comma splices, run-on sentences, sentence fragments, and many more other small, fixable mistakes. One problem that I had early on in this semester, was the structure of my essays. There wasn’t really much structure to them, and they kind of just ran on without much substance to them. Now, as you can see in my examples provided, I have added sentence-level structure, and many different other aspects to my papers, that helped improve the overall quality of my writing.
